In old age, Clara wrote the following simple expression of her humanitarian concern:
“Ever since my childhood during WW1, when we passed through Russia and China, I have been pre-occupied by the meaningless slaughter of men, women and children and tried to express this in many sculptures and actions. Can't we Wake Up out of this nightmare and ALL begin to work together for the love of it, dropping our greed, and petty ambitions, join hands across religion, social, national and party barriers, so that they drop and we all be friends?”
